an I run trickle charge from engine compartment
Does anybody know if I can run a batterie maintainer from the connections in the engine compartment or is it better to use the actual batterie connections?

I use the actual battery connections, and no problems, and easy to connect. And everyone that I know has used the battery connections.

I leave the hood/trunk [?] open, and unplug the light fixture as well.

I use the connection in the engine compartment. I can close the lid without pinching the cord. No need to remove anything. Works great.

I do this now. Battery maintainer straight to the battery, leave trunk open, and unplug light fixture.
