Default 09 Cayman S superceeds the 996

320 HP at 7200rpm 273ft/lbs of torque, DFI engine, PDK transmission, 3,031lbs for PDK in Cayman S, Porsche numbers of 0-100 kph, 0-160 kph 10.9

Web special is up on Porsche

Well I guess we will have to get use to being passed by these at the track.

No shame in being passed by a 8-10 year newer car...especially another member of the Porsche family.

There are many faster, more technologically advanced, and cheaper cars than the 996. If its not what you want to drive though, who cares?

When and if the time comes, I'd certainly consider a Cayman to replace my C4S. I've sat in one but never driven one. The interior feels more cramped and the rear visibility isn't as good as a 911 but the 911 is excellent in that respect. Every car is a compromise so it depends on what's important to you.

No big surprise. We all saw it coming. The current crop of the 987S with 3.4 matched our 3.4 996's and surpassed the previous generation 993 by a bit. The HP/efficiency just keeps going up which is great for all of us. Just look at how stupid fast a 997.2 non S is with the PDK.

I think the front is a improvement.
Back seats in my 4S have never been used except when I crawl in the clean the rear window. Performance on the track is important to me. So I am thinking that the 4S needs a stable mate.

I think our 996's just depreciated again.

And remember that the CS is as much money as my 2000 C2 was. Progress?

Did y'all think that PAG would never develop a non-911 that exceeds ANY 911 in hp?

I guess I don’t worry about depreciation; to me its an additional cost of ownership. The model is almost 10 years old, and it’s not a financial investment.

If you want to about depreciation, think about it on a brand spanking new Cayman S!

What Dell said too. Don't Honda's have ~300hp these days?

I don't see see those keeping up to any 996 on the track. Fact is even BMW and Audi with way more hp hardly can.

The 296 hp version of the CS was already a more capable track car than any stock (non-GT3) 996. With 320 hp it will be fantastic. Now if they would just drop in a GT3 engine!
