Default How much lower do you sit...

Does anyone have hard data with regard to how much lower (if any) the GT3 seats are (with or without B-K rails) versus the electric OEM seats?

I need to sit about 2" lower in the car...will a GT3 seat provide that kind of lowering?

I've never sat in gt3 seats, but here is some input. I'm 6 4" (long torso, relatively short legs), and my head came pretty close to the roof in my 1999 C2 (stock motorized seats). I have the non-motorized sports seats in my turbo, and I would guess I sit about 2 inches lower in them.

Yes, GT3 seats on their OEM rails will provide just about 2" lower. No actual measurements or data, more of my experience. I had power seats on the C4S. Lowered max, the top of my helmet would just touch the alcantara headliner. With the GT3 seats, there is about a 2" clearance. Push came to shove, you could get the BK rails with adjustable placement.

I would not recommend GT3 seats for the DD with multiple in-outs in a day, though.

You can retain stock height with gt3 seats via adjustment bracket from recaros

I'm also in the "long torso" group...with my OEM electric seat full down the top of my head brushes the headliner...without a helmet.

With the seat full down it looks like the back of my seat is not that high off the floor...not an exact measurement but it measures about 4 inches. The seat cushion obviously ramps up at an angle as you move to the front...it measures about 6 inches where my butt actually contacts the seat.

Does anyone have any idea how the GT3 seats match up with these measurements? If the GT3 seats provide a lower sitting position, it must be because their ramp-up angle is smaller than the OEM seat. I find it hard to believe that the GT3 seat is much lower in the back than 4 inches, but maybe it is.

My reference is only to the stock, electric Boxster S seats. I like a fairly upright driving position which is probably different than most. I think the seatback angle is perfect on the GT3 seats, so somewhat apples-to-apples. I picked up about an inch. Maybe a hair more once the seat cushions settle in. If you want more, like 2", you might need to go the BK brackets route.

Wow, I'm really trying to resist the urge for another shameless "I have a set of GT3 seats for sale" plug..... trying.... to.... resist.....

As I'm trying to resist, I'll admit that I don't have hard data, but the standard mounting of the GT3 seats yields a lower seating position. Remove the velcro attached seat bottoms, and you're even lower. Without the cushions, you have an enhanced feel for what's happening with the car. I'm not sure if you perceive a lower seating position as a positive or a negative, but I'm just stating (what I believe are) the facts.

Oh, I view a lower sitting position as a huge positive... I really need a couple of inches more than I have now.

Dock, that sounds like a "personal" problem! My condolences to your wife.

that's why I got sunroof delete! The dealer thought he had a headcase on the hands when I showed up to check out the cars w/ my helmet before my purchase.

Gain some room by tilting the seat back a bit.
