Default HAD a pristine 996 until...

... I took it to Chris' German Auto in Bellevue, WA.

My 996
Seal grey 2002 with aero, whale tail, carbon fiber throughout, advanced technic pkg, full leather, 18K miles, absolutely spotless.

The situation
I have owned the car for 6 months now and had never taken it in for service. The car needed a basic 15K mile inspection + new brake fluid flush. Researched different options in the Puget Sound region. Settled on Chris German auto.

The result
Picked up my car and, lo and behold, there's a new "crease" in the body + a new scratch right above the driver's door. Right where I'm going to see it every time I get in the car. Someone clearly dropped something on the car while it was parked there.

The response
The owner of Chris' looked at it and just told me to talk to my insurance company. Gee thanks. I see you really support your customers. I am now researching dent wizard with the hope they can restore it.

I'm never goin' back there! Any other recommendations for Porshe service in the Puget Sound - eastside?

You read my mind...

I was so pissed. The car was spotless. It's still awesome, but it's no longer perfect.

If the shop is responsible, then the shop should pay for the repair.

When mine was there I got some "marks" and there was an oil drip from another car parked over it. I was 99.9% sure that the scratches were NOT there prior to my visit, but they are there now. where do you live? I have heard good things from a couple other places near here.

I am surprise that Chris just blew you off, I have talked to him many times and it makes me mad just thinking he did that to you. Keep posting and let him know you have a following that are ready to stand together. His business has been slow the last few weeks so if he looses a couple customers now it could hurt....

That's really strange. I've always heard good things about Chris.

I was really surprised he didn't offer to do something about it. The thing is, his guys probably didn't do it: the office manager suspects a neighbouring business may have dropped some wood on it. Purely circumstantial, but there were some piles of wood in the parking lot. Although accidents happen and this may not have been under their control, I was not happy with his response. I am not going to patronize a business that doesn't take responsibility for my car while it's parked in their lot.

I did ask him to talk with the neighbouring business and get back to me. That was a week ago. No response. I think he just wants me to go away.

where abouts do you live? Have you had it looked at... you might be surprised what can be removed with/out much cost, just some time and effort....

My wife's car has been "adjusted" several times by the driver (whom I wont name in the interest in keeping my marriage smooth) We were able to rub out some big stuff with the right products and tools. Just a thought, I would be willing to help if I could.

I'm hoping I can get it fixed by a DentWizard shop for ~$150 - $200 or so (checking into that on Monday), so I don't really want to deal with the hassle of an attorney.

It's not a huge monetary thing, although I certainly don't appreciate the extra cost. I'm most upset that what was a near-perfect 996 is no longer and I have to look at it every time I get in the car. Sure hope the DentWizard thing works...

Also looking for a different shop (Puget Sound area of WA, eastside preferred) that I can rely on to be as **** about my car as I am. Clearly, this shop ain't it.

I would file a complaint w/ the BBB. It's a good start. There are 2 problems w/ the BBB. 1. It is purely voluntary to be a member and 2. Their decisions are not binding in any way. Worse case scenario it shows you tried to mediate in good faith.

After you get an estimate. Send him a letter w/ the attached estimate or bill. Make sure it's certified and give him a time limit in which to respond. Take lots of pics of the damage. If he blows you off then take his *** to small claims where he can pay for both the damage and the court costs when he loses.
