Default Question about Aero-Kit

I have owned this car for two months and enjoying it very much. Watching pictures of 996 cars with aero-kit on the forum I notice a difference. Mine has side flaps on the rear bumper. Do those actually belong to an aero-kit or are they an add-on for the kit? Or completely different modification? Just wondering...

the rear strakes were not something that came with the mark 1 aero-kit originally, iirc. however, i believe you could add it as an option.

Correct, they were not included but available from Porsche, I think they look great.

Love the rear fins. I added them to my car earlier this year.

That's for the pre-2002 rear bumper.
the newer ones 2002 and on, do not need it as the bumper was designed to provide optimal airflow without any add ons

According to the 2001 order guide, all 2001 aerokit cars included the GT side covers. There were two aerokit options, P06 that included the aerokit, sport chassis (030), GT side covers, and stainless steel exhaust pipes; and P08 that only included the aerokit and GT side covers. From looking at the exhaust pipes, it looks like yours has the P06 option.

Thanks for the info! That was much more info than I expected to get. Great forum!

Ivangene, I think we are not as bad rainwise here in Finland as Great Britain but this year has been very rainy.
