But overall, I think most people on here will prefer a 996 over a C5.

As a DD, a 90K 996 can need an engine relatively soon. If you get 120K on a 996, I think you did OK, so you should take into consideration that at anytime a 90K 996 may need a 10K engine replacement.
So 90-120k is all I can expect from the motor?

That's seriously discouraging.

I'm sorry, I do not buy that and it has yet to be proven.

If you believed everything you read on an Internet forum than they last engined needs to be replaced at every maintenance interval

On my 86 911 I never even think about the engine failing, on my last 951 I drove it to 200K miles and it was still strong.

There are high mileage 996's on the road.

Were talking about 996s. How many 996s do you know that went over 120K miles on the same engine? I am sure that there are some, but I would bet not many.

The point is that you should not be that surprised if it needs a new engine over 90K miles IMO. That is why I purchased a lower mileage one, with a warranty.

The answer to your question is simple. There are simply not many 996s who have been driven often enough to give the answer. There are, however, 996 blown engines with few miles on the clock.

The actual point is that you can pick up a 996 with a replacement engine at a better deal than one with an original engine that you may or may not have to budget for an engine replacement in mind.
