So long everyone.........
Uh Ohh! Being unsatified with a blown engine on this board leads to character assinations.

It's funny.......even on the trip to Charlotte to look at BMWs I had several people point at me. One was a guy standing on a hill with his friend on Independence Blvd. As I passed I saw him tap his buddy and point at me. I could read his lips and he said, hey look at that Porsche.
It was always nice to get that kind of response, but it always made me want to stop and tell the people, "Yeah, it's a 911, but you don't know the half of it". (Engine failure, etc.)
I'm not trying to get anyone here riled, but I am very glad to not have that car in my garage anymore.

Point taken...
But then again, they dont look like the P-Car and inspire me to touch them, carress them, run my hand down the curves and talk softly too them... whooops, my sentual side slipping out
I am glad to hear you found something you like, and knowing the trouble you HAD, I am sure that makes it that much sweeter for you.
GL, and stay in touch
Ed
Wow!
I've had three BMWs - I like them, I really do, but I've also had three P-cars, and I could never fool myself into thinking the BMWs were nicer than the Porsches...let alone much nicer. Enjoy the 330 though, sounds as if you already are.

Orrin, I'm sad to see you go but I think everyone understands. Enjoy your BMW in good health and don't be a stranger. I have to say I'm so glad you went CPO. I firmly believe that CPO cars are the best cars in the used car market, and I would never buy a vehicle from a dealer who wouldn't certify it for a cost (meaning it wouldn't pass the manufacturers specs for certification)
I've only ever purchased one daily driver type used car with no manufacturer warranty/cpo, and I regret it to this day. Prior to that always new, always cash. Then, when one of our new MBs was totaled by a film crew, and the insurer said they would replace with the exact same certified vehicle (it was an AMG special edition interior/body/etc, and the cash value they proposed didn't work), I got my first taste of a certified vehicle. It was perfect. Felt new, no depreciation nightmares, and full warranty and support. Never looked back.
Since accidentally discovering CPO, I've done it 4 times and still have 3 of the cars, MB Audi and Porsche, and all in all haven't even spent $3K in repairs out of pocket in the past 6 years. I see no reason to mess with a good thing, so I will keep buying new or CPO only for a modern car (read: one I can't fix easily!). The one car I bought with no warranty in that period died quicker than you can snap your fingers, even after a full pre purchase inspection. It was also the only japanese car!
Now I may have paid a total premium to non-certified of as much $10K total on all 3 cars combined, but the warranty work and the peace of mind combined have more than redeemed that figure!

I am so glad to be rid of it. The dealer still claimed the gas pedal was normal, but it was incredibly notchy and really irritating to drive. Also, I didn't want to keep it and then something else go wrong, minor or major. I didn't feel like putting another cent into that car.
I bought a 2006 330i with 25,000 miles and CPO. Beautiful car and much nicer than the Porsche. I was never really impressed with the Porsche other than the wonderfully strong and smooth acceleration.
