I have acquired the dreaded RMS failure on my 2002 996 that has corrupted my clutch. Having said that, I have ordered a clutch kit, flywheel seal(RMS), slave cylinder, super blue fluid. Having 70k miles, I am wanting to replace the Intermittent Shaft Seal(s)(IMS) also. IMS requires oil change, so I've read.
I am running into a question, I am finding both an O-ring and a seal for the IMS. So which do I get and how many. Is there one of each or just preferences? Replace 3 IMS bolts with new ones?
I'm reading the difference may be when they changed from the single spoke sprocket, to the dual spoke. However, the parts call for the same years in the specs? I may just go ahead and get both, they are only a few bucks each...
A DIY with pics if you can swing it would be much appreciated from us.
TIA
I found one the other day with pics, but can't seem to find the thread now. Under RMS or clutch...? I've been looking till my eyes seem to be falling out.
