Default Which lower lip (splitter) is this?

Read a BUNCH of posts and got confused...
Which lip spoiler is this?

Fits the mk1 Aero/GT3 bumper cover original holes.
It's PU (not carbon or glass) and looks pretty sharp. Part #s or exact model/year info if you have it.

Thanks!

I don't know a ton about the difference between the GT3 Street and the GT3 Cup spoilers for the Mk1, but that looks to me like a Street part. I believe there were only the two for the Mk1 (at least OEM options). Try posting that pic in the Cup forum.

Contact Sunset Imports, they can advise you on the exact parts still available for your car. I bought my Mk2 part from them, initially wanted the Cup part but turned out they couldn't get, so I got the Street. My p/n will be different though (Mk2) so I won't post.

I believe you can find a pic of a Mk1 part by searching for posts by BruceP containing the word "splitter" or "spoiler", he had a Mk1 and installed the street part (if I recall correctly)

found the thread, and correction, bruce did the Cup splitter

https://rennlist.com/forums/showthre...plitter&page=3

You may also want to send a message to LVDell, since the more I look at that picture the more I think it's a Mk2 part on a Mk1 bumper.

Here's some info on that
http://www.renntech.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=4095

I'll also attach a pic of mine (not the best angle)

It's a cup car lip

You can't get it through your dealer, you need to order it from someone who can get it from PMNA. I got mine from The Racers Group.

As Ray said, I can confirm that is a GT3Cup lip. I replaced the stock lip on my GT3 with that lip and ordered it through TRG. They used to run about $150 but now prices seem to have gone up significantly. I posted a pic at one point of the difference between the GT3 street and Cup lips.

So it looks like the MK2 cup lip doesn't exactly fit on the sides of the bumper on a MK1 front, seen in the renntech link...

The OP's picture looks like it fits much better, so maybe it's aftermarket...
To me it looks more like the lip in this guy's post, where he claims it's a gt3 rs lip...

That's actually my car and that is the MkII GT3 street lip I installed on my C2CAB. There are 3 lips to choose from that are "stock". There is the MkI GT3 lip, the MkII GT3 splitter like above on my CAB and there is the MkII GT3 CUP splitter that extends past the outside of the left of right sides of the bumper like in post#1.

Cost of the 3 lips last time I checked was:
MkI <$100
MkII >$200
MkII Cup ~$150-200 depending on vendor and PMNA prcing

By the way, on the MkI bumper to install the MkII GT3 and MkII GT3CUP you will need to create new holes to attach as well you will need to trim the last few inches off so it does no protrude into the tire

Check out my thread from Renntech.org that my picture came from and it has instructions how I did it.

Will any of those "lips" fit on a stock (normal) bumper for a '99 C2, or does the bumper have to be a GT3 (MKI?) type? Make sense?

Possibly, but the real question is why?

For the look, areo balance, and cost savings. I want to add a rear wing/spoiler but need to "balance" the car out. Not a big fan of most of the front bumpers out their. Thinking this would do the trick maybe??? Other thoughts welcome too!

That's not going to cut it. If you want balance you need to have a front that is lower than the air beckoning front that comes stock. The splitter would NOT do the trick alone.

Get the aero front and splitter if you pan to add any sort of fixed wing rear. You think the front is unstable now, try to add a rear fixed wing and not address the air flow up front and 4x4 ride height.

So does the areo front hang down lower? Does it make that much of a difference over the stock front? I'm sure it probably does otherwise the factory wouldn't have designed it that way right!? Think I just answered my own question. The cost of the areo kit is quite substantial though unfortunately and they're aren't many other options.

Depends on what your budget is. The factory front can be had for roughly $1K and the side skirts for just a bit less than that. Your options are also available for cheaper alternatives like MA Shaw with his fiberglass unit. From what I hear, his quality is TOP NOTCH!
