Cool

Actually, Metallic Paint to Sample is only $4315 (+/-), and I really like this particular color. Not gay or lesbian, and I don't wear rubber shoes with holes.
I loved the original early 1970's Aubergine referred to in the first post by the word eggplant. Porsche has had several versions of that over the decades. This may be a true PTS, though.

But what do I know. I drive a giant weiner.

Tim, where is the purple porsche love??? It takes a while, but the unusual colors grow on you (kind of like a fungus). In a sea of silver cars, purple is really easy to find. I can't be the only one, because a Vesuvio metallic 996 was featured on the first cover of Total 911 magazine (my personal favorite).

You really are looking, aren't you? Good luck...give the wierd colors a chance.

$8,219 was the quote from the Porsche dealer. An extended color was an extra $3,500 and special metallics were $850.00 extra.

I don't have enough years left in my life for that color to grow on me! Now, if someone wanted to buy it and give it to me.... well, that's a different story.

I think the point is to buy a car, own it and enjoy it, not to think about resale later on.

Not for me, it's always a balance. Cars aren't an investment, they just keep dropping in value every minute of every day. So, I try to keep some level of balance when getting a new one. Color doesn't make the car drive any better.

Could be a case where that color is associated with personal attribute (ex. college color or the guy played ball for the Vikings) For me that would be a nice color initially but long-term I'd lose interest in it. The nice thing about "standard" colors (i.e. silver, black, white, red, yellow, grey) is that they are timeless.

I've seen a lot worse. That is not too bad, just going to take awhile to find the right buyer or take a big hit on resale value.

The Green ones with the green interior are still worse in my opinion.

I think they used that color on the 928s in the 80's too. The artist formerly know as "Prince" should be all over that one. Too bad it's not a 1999!
