Project Complete: Alcantara, SSK, painted console
Project:
New painted center console - Orient Red
Non-smoker kit
B&M SSK
EVO Linkage
Alcantara recovering of all trim pieces... of note: the ebrake and the cover to the rear storage bin have the same red stitching as the shift ****.
THANKS to: Eric at bumperplugs.com and Don from Dallassteeringwheel.com... I bought my bumper plugs (of course), SSK, and center console from Eric, and I was/am amazed at the quality of his work. Top notch! Don at Dallas Custom Steering Wheel was originally going to do my... yes... steering wheel - but the project continued to morph, and in the end he took care of recovering my e-brake, and all the associated trim pieces to the center console.
This all started with buying the OEM GT3 shift ****... while the color scheme looks a little incongruous now, I think it will fit perfectly once the steering wheel is done.
Install:
I followed all the great DIY instructions here and on the B&M site... plus I have emailed tons of Rennlisters here to ask specific questions. For anyone thinking of doing this whole project (or maybe just the SSK) -- the whole process is very straightforward. If you have the tools, the whole thing goes very smoothly. I wasn't able to get the EVO link to sit right and I was too rushed to mess with it any longer... so I'll be selling it off.
So here's how it turned out... sorry for the pics, but new baby = less Rennlist, so I figured its just better to post what I have...
You can see the red stitching on the rear bin cover (down the middle) and the sides of the ebrake. The color and fabric match to the OEM shift **** is PERFECT.
SSK Review:
Reminds me of my old S2000 - the shifts are more direct with NO slop. Shifting effort is increased, but I would never go back. It is awesome!

Thanks - well, I looked at the Grey color swatch, which certainly will match the interior color better... but I wanted to use as many OEM pieces as I could (shift ****, and steering wheel) and they were charcoal... also, I was afraid the lighter color would dirty easier. I think the darker Alcantara will fit better as I continue to add pieces...

Beautiful!!!!!
Did you send Dallas your original E-brake, or did they have one to purchase outright?
Looks like the kick panels on the side of the console are also done in Alcantara?

I sent Dallas my original e-brake...
and yes, I did the kick panels as well -- good eye! Originally I had planned just to do the shift **** and steering wheel - then I had the opportunity to buy a GT3 alcantara hand brake but the deal fell through. Too bad I was already sold on doing the e-brake... so I recovered all the trim panels I could.

Absolutely beautiful. Although I thought I saw a speck of dust near the bottom of the E-brake - just kidding.
Everything that I've seen you do to you 911 has been impeccable. Very nice job. I love the colors.

I love the alcantara and the rear center console. Do you know if they have that material in savannah beige and would you mind sharing the cost for those pieces? If they can come close to matching my color I'm going to do mine.
