I have done just what everyone is recomending for one of my back tires that was leaking. I had them take it off, score/polish it down and then reapply silicone glue. It has been holding air pretty tight. Now, after a couple months my other back tire is leaking. And by leaking I mean 42psi in 3 hours. I know the whole trick as far as submerging it in water but that doesn't really help me in this case.

I tried going to the dealer to see if they would cover it and the PNA service rep happened to be in on that day. To make a long story short, I bought my car 3rd hand and the original sticker that was out of NY had the chrome rims as an option. Apparently the PNA rep said Porsche never sold the 996 with chrome rims so he wouldn't cover it. He recommended the same fix as the other tire though. He also recomended that I get an N rated tire because it has a stickier formula. i know there has been countless arguments about that so I will leave that one alone! Truthfully, as much as I want the Pilot sports I can't rationalize $1350 for tires. I will probably replace them with sumi htrz 2s (over the 3s because the 3s dont look that aggressive) but I have to stay under $800 and I don't know of a better alternative.
