Question Help replacing the rear engine lid shock on a 2000 C2.

I bought a new rear engine lid shock for my 2000 Carrera and I have not been able to find how-to info. about replacing the part. The part number is 996-512-551-03-M24.

Has anyone here performed this repair? It appears to me that there are two c-type metal clamps at both mounting points which need to be removed in order to pull the shock off of its mounting posts. Is this correct?

TIA for any help.

The clamps are not removed. Pry them out a little with a small flat screwdriver. They will click out and retain the open position. The new one can be pushed in, or you can open the spring clamps first and them simply plush on the back of the clamps to snap them closed.
Try it on the new part first.
