Lots of guys on 6speedline.com seem to have SC their 996s and some on this forum as well.

I've heard nothing but positives concerning supercharging.

Everyone reports huge increases in hp, that's for sure. I haven't heard of any cases of s/c systems causing problems with engines, either.

I would love to do this too. I have thought about it many times.

Yup, kicking around the idea too, instead of upgrading the Porsche from a 2003 to a 2005/2006, I was thinking about just supercharging, maybe try CAI and Plenum first to see what type of gains I get out of it. Then the daddy of them all the SC. Dyno's before and after for each.

What should one expect to pay when getting the SC installed?

I was looking at the CAI and Plenum as well first. I have heard around 100HP or so from the charger. I don't know anyone personally who has it. I have a few friends who have known people with the SC and they said it was great.

I wonder if they have a 30 day trial period LOL

I have a TPC supercharger on my 964 and I'm very happy with it. The torque is phenomenal. Expensive upgrade though.

If my motor is still this solid when the warranty is up, I'll drop one in (January 2010), but I definitely prefer the design, cooling and oiling setup of the VF Engineering kit (vortech v2 centrifugal) over the TPC kit. VF originally had an exclusive marketing relationship with EVOMS but it has expired and is now available directly from VF and from resellers. It seems to truly bolt on. Redridge on this forum has one and from what I've read seems to really love it.

I just read up on VFs kit. I knew about the EVOMS kit but I didn't know they split from their deal. The kit is really nice and I will have to seriously consider it once I get the body mods I want done. I would love to have that extra power in my C4. I am use to cars with forced induction so I hate that my Porsche doesn't have it but that is my fault for not buying the TT.

If I get the super charger, does it require headers and exhuast upgrade as well? I like the sound of the exhuast just the way it is. No fart pipes for my porsche!

i don't think anythings required per se, but you'll wind up doing something while you're in there, modder's nature

With any car that you force induct it is typically recommended that you upgrade the factory exhaust to allow the motor to flow better and then a clutch and brake upgrade depending on the power increase.

Our cars are a little different from a stock 3 series BMW so I doubt we need a lot of upgrade on our brakes unless we are tracking. Does anyone know the limits to the stock clutch?
I planned to upgrade my exhaust and clutch before or during the SC install when/if I do it

I couldn't find the kit for a Porsche on Vortech's website. Do you know where to find it?

http://www.vf-engineering.com/kit_porsche_996_36.php

(only the blower is Vortech, the whole kit is from a separate firm called VF Engineering)

I wish vortech had a direct solution, would be half the money.
