I did a search but could not find this issue, I have an early production '99 996 coupe that came w/ the CDR 210 unit and I want to replace it w/ a CDR 220 that I bought from a 2001 996 coupe. To my surprise, the 220 is several millimeters wider than the 210 and it will not fit in the hole in my dashboard(!) ![Mad](https://rennlist.com/forums/images/smilies/mad.gif)
Not being a radio expert, I had always thought that all or most car radios were a standard (DIN) size, is it possible to use this unit in my car? What do I need to change? TIA for any help!

O.k., I had this same issue, and solved it on my 99 when I did the same swap. When I pulled out my 210 it was in a bracket-type thing, that I just assumed I would need to put onto the 220. Wrong. The 220 fits perfect without this bracket, and the 220 will not fit if you try to use it (actually, I couldn't squeeze my 220 into the bracket for the life of me, which led my to try to install the 220 in the dash without the bracket, and lo and behold it was a perfect fit. Good luck!
