Default Is it the shifter, tranny, or clutch!!!

Hey Guys!
Since yesterday I've got an unusual problem!
At a traffic light, as it goes green, I push in the clutch, engage first gear and as I slowly bring up the clutch pedal the shifter (tranny) pops out of first gear and makes a bit of a grinding sound as if the gear teeth are just touching each other until a mash the clutch back down.
If I hold the shifter firmly forward in first gear it doesn't "pop-out".
Anyone have this before?
Is it a shifter linkage adjustment that isn't sliding the 2 gears fully together?
thanks
Pete

Sounds like you got it, the cable/shifter adjustment. When a hub pops off, it is either the slider hub is worn (from too much grinding) or it is simply not engaged enough. I bet the latter since you never have grinded before.

+1.... never heard of a 1st gear pop out on the tranny end.

Hmm, I had this on a Triumph. I did the gearbox rebuild and 1st was worn...
I hope for the adjustment though.
