Default Radar - "Ka"?

Hey guys, I have had my V1 for over 3yrs now and never this has happenend to me until today. Driving from home on the E-way as soon as this Saab 9-3 got behind me my V1 goes off, showing "Ka" warning for like 3 miles this happens. Then we both get off the E-way and on normal road same thing, until he turned into a sub-division did my V1 stop beeping? What gives? Anyone else experience this? What in the Saab 9-3 would cause this?

Thank!

Your wife's Honda has laser beams shooting out. Way cool.

I've had the same thing happen with Audi Q7s. I'm guessing it has something to do with a park distance sensor.

these are normally activated in reverse only...

but you may have a point... some cars have blind spot sensors

Radar cruise control (distronic etc) is a possibility, but there are a lot of fancy features which can throw off radar in new cars. He could have also been running a jammer

With the Odyssey...it's an '02, no sensors at all on the car that are mentioned above. Who knows.

Dallas C4S is correct. I just had to have my K40 reprogrammed. The tech said that all of the cars on the road today that have the parking assistant feature are interfering with the radar and laser detectors. And is some cases like mine with the K40 they have to be reprogrammed. My front sensor was completely inoperable.

Would this still be true about Park Assist or lane change blind spot if he was behind me the whole time?

If it's only throttle on, it's probably electromagnetic interference. You should be able to get a software update or shielding update from valentine/passport/bel. Give em a call, or stop driving that van so fast!

rain sensing wipers? onstar beacon? who knows man. There are a million possible radio-light sources on new cars that could be screwing with your radar-laser detector.

That's one of the reasons I sold my V1: too many false alerts. Even tailights of certain SUV's bring alerts on.

Weird that it should go off with the Saab behind you, though. Maybe you were following a particular car but only noticed the Saab?

V1 has the arrows so he knew where the source was from.

I have run into the same thing with my V1. With the arrows you can usually figure out exactly which car is sending out a signal by passing cars or let them pass you. It does not happen very often, but is annoying when it does.
