Default 996 Engine Failure (IMS)

I need some help and participation from you guys on this topic, the intermediate shaft failure, I cant believe the threads on this same topic and I wonder why there has been no class action suite against Porsche in this regard.
Thanks for your help.

I would like to get a poll going but I cant figure how to get it setup.

Any thing you guys would like to add would be appreciated and looking forward to your responces.

Thank Andy

As long as this is not statistically valid, you should add the option of [ ] Not failed.

I think there has been no class action suit because the clever marketing people give all lawyers a free Porsche in exchange for their loyalty.
(BTW, you may have answered your own question about the rate of IMS failures.)

The only way is to have peoples experiances at least here at this forum, it may not be scientific but it could be if people would participate. I cant understand why there is not more people putting there .02 in.

I hope more of the 996 comunity will participate. Thanks for your input guys.

Why not include what oil the engine was using? Or would this show that most failed engines were running Mobil 0W40?

I am assuming that they are using what the oem recomends, I know that it was Mobil 1 Synthetic replaced by the dealer. I am surprized that there is no one participating on this thread??? Who would have thought that the best p-car forum on the planet would have had this responce.

LOL Green,

You should do a search, these threads have gotten pretty heated in the past. Then you'll have your answer

Green Goblin!
I think that the problem is that various "failure" issues have been absolutely flogged to death on the site and one may perhaps assume that since there has never been a class action lawsuit, one of the reasons may be that the actual number of failures isn't really that high.
In any case, what this does do is add yet another "hit" on the web when someone pucnhes in Porsche engine failure and only suceeds in lowering the value of our cars.
Just my 2 cents
Pete

MY RMS or IMS haven't failed, therefore I can't participate.

My RMS and IMS seals have leaked but this doesn't cause engine failure. I have heard of the IMS bolts failing which would cause the IMS shaft to get out of line and then cause the engine to grenade.
If your under warranty your engine would be covered but seals that are weeping are not.
