Default X74 VIN number please

I know that some may consider this request sneaky and possibly use other choice words, but:

I need a VIN number of a '966' Porsche - factory ordered w/ the x74 suspension option. I have found a source that can order this, but I must provide a VIN number.......

Can anyone help me?

Thank You,
Paul

I'm a bit confused, you can order x74 for any car, you don't need a vin. There must be something more sneaky going on? Sorry can't help you.

Paul, as Andy said, you don't need a VIN to order a X74 kit. These are available at a number of places (like the dealer) and there is no VIN requirement. You just need to specify C2 or C4.

I hope this has not been beaten to death, but he said that these kits specify '
02 - '04. I have the 1999 C2. Any complications that you know of?

You need to order the RoWM030 for a 99. Some will tell you it will fit but it is NOT made for a 99-01 car. You need to specify both C2 or C4 as well as Manual or Tip as well as Coupe or CAB.

I originally was set on the row m030 and it is considerably cheaper. I have searched till my fingers were bleeding. From what I have read, the row suspension lowers, but not dramatically - if at all. Suncoast says the literature says 10mm. I have read some that say that it does drop
20mm - front and 10mm- rear. while others don't find a diff in height.

That's why I decided on the x74. Comments?

This is not correct.

x74 was only offered in the us from '02-04, therefore there are only part numbers in the US catalog for those years. In Europe the x74 was available for all years. It will work just fine on your '99.

You can validate this statement with Gert from Carnewal. He has been selling these kits for years. This is where I ordered my kit. At the time it was the best price, however with the drop of the dollar and strength of the Euro it may no longer be a good deal.

I got something like 20-25mm up front and 15-18mm in back.

If you are so set on ride height, then get an adjustable setup like the PSS9.

Andy, before you start calling out people incorrect do your research. The X74 is NOT made for the US99-01 cars. Yes, you are correct that it fits but is is NOT made for the US99-01 cars. Gert does not work for Porsche. One of the problems that was reported was structural rigidity of the 99-01 cars vs. the 02+ cars.

A GT3 suspension isn't made for a 99-01 car but fits just fine. As long as you make the proper "upgrades" to the car then you don't risk jeopardizing the failure of the weak points in the system.

**ps. the X74, IIRC, was offered RoW only in the pre02 cars. They have cited several times that US cars did not get it b/c of structural rigidity issues which I don't understand but apparently there are difference that have not been elaborated on. I checked into this when I did the suspension on my CAB. Past that, I have no idea why PCNA does not sell a setup that costs 3x more which they love to do.**

Only Porsche for me! Those boys spent tons in development. Not to discount Pss9's, but I like the 'dialed-in' aspect from Porsche.

Sorry to get things heated. Not my intention here.

Not heated at all. Trust me, the "old" Dell would have been more vocal. I respect Andy but just made sure to clarify that neither of us were "wrong". Just want to make sure that if somebody stumbles across your thread in the future they know as much correct info as possible.

Anyway, to get to your last posts. I agree, Porsche only for me on the CAB as well as my GT3. Most of my upgrades bits are PMNA (Motorsport) except for the Motons.

My CAB started with the standard suspension and I upgraded it to the RoWM030. Absolutely loved the transformation of the car. For the track though, it helps, but wasn't what I was looking for. Hence, the additional of the GT3. That SOB is exactly what the doctor ordered!

GT3 would definitely be my choice, but given college tuitions, not in the immediate future. The next best thing for me is the X74 suspension.
ROW M030 is now back on the 'think-about' list.....

Time will tell.

Thanks for all the helpful insight
