Smile mechanical or electronic throttle?

all,

I (for some reason) thought the 996 had a "drive-by-wire" electronic throttle - with the integrated PSM and all. But it doesn't drive like an e-throttle. You really have to be agressive with the go-pedal when you want the car to hustle, much like (but much slower) than my old S2000.

Some searching revealed talk about adjusting the throttle cable... So I assume it is, after all, mechanical? Just curious...

Thanks!!

IIRC only the '99 C2 cars were throttle cable. Rest should be Drive by Wire.

Well if you want to be technical even the egas cars have a throttle cable. It is only about 8 inches long and actuates the potentiometer rather than several feet long and directly actuating the throttle butterfly. The actual pedal assembly is the same as the non egas cars, just the cable that once ran to the cruise control servo now runs to the egas potentiometer.

The newer 987/997 cars actually finally lost a cable all together as the potentiometer is built into the pedal assembly.
