even if we shouldn't be generalizing, i'd be uncomfortable buying a watercooled 911 that gets driven less than say 5K miles a year on its original engine especially since people would tack on a $ premium for a lower mileage vehicle. i'd pay less to get a bit more normal levels of attn.
lots of diff factors mixed in, though .
to honor the original question, i don't have an original engine, but if i keep this car, i would have what many 911 ownesr would consider a reman engine with a healthy amount of yearly mileage (15K-17K miles)

120000kms on my 99C2 - no problems. I've blown up a Mustang and an Iroc Z at HALF this distance and I don't see pony car people twisting their knickers over the issue.

I love it when these old threads pop back up...
I rolled 99,000 miles on my 2002 C4S yesterday. It's the original engine. It's still running strong!

There is a post by T2 on the 996 turbo board. He tracks his car and just hit 300k with no major repairs.
Go research the reliability ratings for yourself. The 911 is one of the most reliable cars ever built.
That said, all cars break sometimes. If you abuse it and don't take care of it, your odds of that happening will increase.
Just enjoy the car and keep up with the maintenance. If something does break, then have it fixed and keep enjoying it.

129K miles with original engine in daily-driven, sport-utilitarian 99 C2. Waiting for clutch to need replacement before doing IMS/RMS. Regular maintenance including oil changes every 5-7.5K miles.
