OT: Crap! ... Looks like the economy finally got me!
Lost my job today. Lay off due to no work. This is going to make my life real interesting. Our projects kept getting pushed back from the developers due to the fact the banks will not lend the money for their projects.
Anyway, does anyone need a Civil Designer?
Sorry for off topic but I just needed to vent.

as an attorney in private practice, I always thought that I was somewhat recession proof, but things are slower on my end as well. Small slumps never had a real negative impact on me, but I am now also feeling the economy's slowness.....but it won't last forever.
Stay positive and grab what you can for now to make ends meet. Best of luck.

If you feel like moving out of the beautiful mountains and clean air, there are tons of jobs in engineering in Dallas. The steel crane is the new bird of Texas. I own a security alarm company and an audio/video design company and although the residential market is down, the commercial market is nuts for those who want to go out and get it. Did I mention that Texas is flat, hot as hell and about 90% humidity 6 months of the year?

I have thought about Texas, hot weather I would welcome. Humidity I can deal with. I am truly sick of the snow and cold. Just as long as I can bring my guns. Worse comes to worse Texas might be ok.

That sucks - I wish you the best. If I lost my job I would only last about 6 months.
My brother and I have a bet about whether or not a recession is forthcoming. I say that with the recent spike in gas and energy, it is going to tip the econ into recession this year.
For the record, I would rather live on Mars than in Texas - especially in the summer. Yuck.

The mountains can be a sight. I would miss them. But I would not call the air all that clean. I seen some brown haze that was on the scary side when driving down to Denver.
