So I took the job in Delaware, and left my '02 C2 with some friends in Vallejo while I sorted out the rest of my life. Well, it's now approximately under control, I've moved into New Castle DE, met the local PCA, and come to terms with the horror of an actual winter after four years in SoCal.
I'm now getting ready to go and fetch my car. In a couple of weeks I'll go to Vallejo to hang out with my friends and get the car ready for tech. Then on 5/16 I fly to Reno, my good mate Will drives from his house in Vallejo to meet me, and we drive on to Ely for the Silver State Classic. This time we'll stop messing around and contest the 140mph class, which requires us to complete the 90 miles in 38 minutes or so. Tech rules limit us to a maximum of 165mph, but I can assure you that at ~6000 ft of altitude, there's not much left in the old girl above 160 so we're not missing much!
Then on to Vegas for the race banquet on Sunday night. This is where it gets entertaining, as I asked all my friends if they fancied a Pcar road trip right across the USA. My friends all said it sounded cool, but they had no vacation left/couldn't drive stick/couldn't leave their wives behind/had to wash their hair. So I mentioned it to my legendary Mum who promptly booked a ticket from London to Vegas!
We're going to the city near Santa Fe that is spelt something like Albuquerqueeqeuue. Then on to Dallas (business meeting for me), Memphis (Graceland for Mum), the Smoky Mountains (guilty pleasure: Dollywood), then we'll see if we're in the mood for a blast all the way home or stop overnight somewhere in VA.
It'll be great to be reunited with my 996, and I think we'll hit 100k somewhere along the way!

Congrats on the move. I was wondering whether you had taken the job.
Believe me, this winter was incredibly mild - 2 days of ice hardly counts as winter.
Hopefully we'll get to meet at a PCA event this summer! Good luck on the drive - don't get too many tickets.

I have homes in New Mexico and outside San Diego. Made the trip numerous times in my 2003 C4S. If you get a chance have lunch or dinner at Tomasitas in Santa Fe. Great atmosphere and REALLY good New Mexican food. Less touristy than most. Enjoy the trip!
