Porsche will not give out specific production information from MY2000 forward. Total 911 production:
2000-22,950
2001-27,325
2002-33,061
2003-29,564

Total production of the 996 was just less than double that of the 993. Big in percentage terms, but still a very, very small number of cars from an industry perspective. Unless you're comparing it to rides whose names end in 'i', you're still driving a very limited production car.

Do you guys think this is the main reason the 996 has depreciated so fast with respect to how well the older 911s kept there value? Simply too many cars out there?

I honestly think from what i've been seeing lately that 997 values are going to fall of a cliff, the 05 CPOs already were in the 50s last month, i'm guaranteeing you guys we'll see 40's by summer, especially if the credit markets hit the prime auto finance biz.

There are way more 997s on the road than I ever remember seeing 996s, and if they do go to direct injection + twin clutch on the facelift cars anytime soon, well that ain't gonna be pretty. They leased a TON of 997s.
