Default Paperwork Folder that fits in Car

I know a lot of you guys like to keep reciepts and paperwork for your cars, and I think i'm going to start doing this as well...if only so that i don't have to some serious mental hurdles to recall when the last time i changed the airfilters was.

What do you guys use? Something that fits into the stock owners manual shelf perhaps?

Custom made 3-ring binder here. I keep a record of all maintenance, receipts and mileage.

That and I use page protectors to hold all the receipts in per project. you can write the date and type of the work on the plastic so its sorts nicely.

Am I the only guy whose manual simply won't fit in the stock owner's manual shelf? I mean, I've tried shoving it in there, but I feel like I'm breaking that cheap plastic and it seems way too small.

You guys are way too organized - I just fold mine and put them under the owners manual binder in the glove box.

Omar, why the need to keep the receipts in the car? I keep a folder at my office.

I'm ashamed...

I lower my head in humiliation of my record keeping.

I also use a three ring binder but for each job I do (and I do all my own work) I also have a work order sheet that I make which has all the details of what was done and cost for parts with part numbers and I staple all the receipts to it. I've done this for years. I don't, however, keep this in the car; I keep it in my office.
Hope this helps,
Patrick

I scan all the receipts and warranty work etc and put on an external drive as well for backup. Do not like paper.

Yup! If the car gets stolen, how do you show the insurance company how much money you spent on improvements, etc!? I keep all receipts in the garage cabinet!
