GT3 sway bar help
can someone confirm that adjustable droplinks are infact required for using the front gt3 swaybar on a 996 non-gt3?
i'd like 2 get my car on the road but i'm waiting for the agency power links to show up and was wondering if stock gt3 links would work.
thanks

By memory, the front drop links need to be approximately 1.5" shorter than original links to work with the GT3 bar. I shortened and sleeved my stock units rather than purchase adjustables. The stock length units will not work.

+1. Adjustable units aren't necessarliy required to run the GT3 bars, but the stock links are too long because the design of the bar is different at the ends than the stock 996 bar.
So, shorter links will work fine however the downside to non-adjustable links is that you can't dial out any preload that might be on the car as a result of corner heights being different with coilovers installed.

i acn't find anything on this Insite guy.
i'm pretty pleased with the AP's ive been using for a while now, and their customer service is pretty good, i just wish someone in canada had these on the shelf so i could just grab a set and go (this sounds like the kind of thing i'll have to keep spares of).

Omar,
To use the GT3 bars you need shorter drop links then what comes stock. (not necessarily adjustable ones) but having the adj ones makes things easier to take out pre-load when you adjust the sway bar mounting hole to make the bar softer/stiffer you can make the drop link longer/shorter to compensate and to take out any preload on the sway bar. Hope that helps.
If you are in a pinch and have a welder around... just cut your stock one and reweld to the correct size. Been done a million times.

If you shorten the stock units, I would recommend sleeving the joint with a short ~3" length of steel tube with holes drilled through ~3/4" from each end. Then after assembling, rosette weld through the holes to the end link. This technique will be stronger than a standard butt weld assembly. Mine have held up well through a lot of track time.

Omar.
Look up Tarrett engineering. I bought their adjustable links for my GT3 sways. Top quality product! I had Agency links for the rear and they wore out and started clunking way too quickly, not quality products from my experience.
I've also read good things about TRG (the racers group), I think they're one of the site sponsors.
Cheers,
Stan
