Well, you can buy a solid roof skin and have a body shop cut off your current roof, then weld the new panel in...

I think you can get an aftermarket carbon fiber panel, too

Sounds like an expensive fix for a "non"-problem. What's the infatuation with sunroof-delete cars? Headroom? Center of gravity? I can't believe that the price of entry would be worth the gains in either department...

Well if one were to want to go on a diet with the car to lower the CG and overall weight, the sunroof is one of the best places to do so. It is the highest point in the car and all that sunroof stuff weighs quite a bit. There have been sunroof delete 996's for sale here as recently as the summer (white aerokit car if i recall correctly) so they are out there. ROI is likely low unless you are working on a fully-dedicated track car.

MINE!!! MUAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

It took me 6 years to find this one. And in that 6 years, this is the only one I have found.

Chads car was the only one I found in 6 months of looking for 996's. There are more out there but it's EXTREMELY rare to come across one for sale.

Patrick was doing a CF roof conversion on his car but I don't remember seeing any pictures of the finished product.

Would be interesting to know just how much weight is removed.

FWIW- I weighed the car at the last track event. Stock weight with GT3 seats inside = 3028#

Careful with the carbon fiber...would not do this unless there is also a roll cage. If I'm not mistaken, a carbon roof with no cage/rollbar contributed to the death of a six-speed member a while back when his car rolled.

Any roof without a rollbar or cage could do this. CF vs a thin piece of tin...not much protection either way.

What is the weight savings w/out sunroof ?40-50 lbs.I can see the reasoning to add "lightness" in a dedicated track car where every pound counts, but not for a steet car.

40-50# is about right. Don't forget the added 3" of headroom.

Thanks Chad, I forgot about the extra headroom.
