What's the difference between 99-01 front fenders and 02-04 fenders?

What's the difference between 99-01 front fenders and 02-04 fenders?
Looking into buying a 99 car and may do a facelift and from the list of parts it looks like fenders need to be changed. In looking at pictures of the 2 styles, the fenders don't look any different. Is it the inside of the fender where the headlights go that's different? I'd prefer not to change them if I don't have to. Thanks!

you're def gonna need the fenders, the hole cutout is different because of the different headlight shape. you will then need the headlight trays, the light harness, some special screws that cost a metric f**kton (like 4 dollars each) and of course the headlights themselves and a front bumper to go with it.
if ur gonna keep the car for a while, not sure how much OEM fenders cost, but you can check mashaw or getty design, they have fiberglass and CF fender pairs for not too much (reasonable prices IMO), but for fitment quality, OEM is best.

I was just curious because the cutout for the headlights in both style fenders looks to be the same but I guess they are different. Thanks for the answers. I guess I need to find a car first.
