Sorry for the rookie 996 question, but does the red-colored S on the C4S script on the engine bonnet mean anything? I was told it was an option, and was purely aesthetics. Does it mean anything above and beyond the typical grey-colored S?

I have been shopping for one, and have seen one or two of those red scripts.

It matches the brakes, but is purely ornimental

It adds about 3-4 mph at the end of each straightaway on track due to lower air resistance when the wing is up. Red is faster than grey.

Hey, I have another question for ya. I have seen some cars advertised with option code 680 "Digital Sound", and code 692 "Remote 6-Disc Changer". Is that the same as the Bose CD sound system? If not, do you know the code for that one?

You are correct, 680 code is Bose up-graded sound and 692 code is the 6 CD changer . as you have probably read in this forum and others, the sound system in the 996 \9 including the upgraded Bose) is let's just say not world class. I have the Bose in my MY 02C4S and it is just OK at best. No comaparison to my wife's MB or my DD Saab Aero.
