I'm thinking that the car I'm going to look at tomorrow at the dealer with 43K miles, all maintenance records, one owner, RMS was done once, except no xenon, might be a good deal at $41.9K, although I personally want to be at the $40.0K mark.

Good God...those 99 C2 prices he posted were a shocker! How accurate is that info? I guess I should consider myself fortunate that mine caught fire last September and insurance paid me $37K for it....otherwise I'd have been selling it privately for a whole lot less......I can't believe they've dropped that drastically......

What does the MMR price mean?

MMR is the Manheim auction range. The listings are from many major auctions all across the US. The date you see represent when the vehicle will be auctioned off. The buy it now price is just that. The auction listings are not always accurate. A TT may not be in the description and often a car is listed as a C4S when is a C2. This is all from Exporttrader. You can google the vin and find where the car is in most cases.

I am pulling the information direct from the MMR (Manheim Market Report) that Steve was referring to. The prices I post are the recent transactions (sales) at the various Manheim auctions across the country. These prices are "wholesale" prices, which is what dealerships base what they will pay for cars they buy or take in on trade. These prices will usually be a mark up to the retail price by the dealer.

Just guessing here but there are post auctions inspections that are allowed in some cases (at an additional cost). Cars sometimes fail the post auction inspection and the deal does not go through - thus the "no".

Auctions are a whole world by themselves and you can't expect to buy a car at the prices shown but it may provide a reference on what the market is doing. I just bought my C4S 2K below the KBB PP price, from a Porsche dealer with CPO. Timing is everything!
