It seems this is a buyers market. I would low ball to "take his temp".

Obviously get a PPI, CARFAX and drive it plenty.

Car is 200 miles away at a Benz dealer. I think I took their temp a bit too deep with my initial $35.5k offer LOL! The car has been in their inventory for almost 60 days..CARFAX is excellent - one owner 7k miles per year Texas car, all books and records, they just put new Mich Sport2's on all 4 corners

Sounds like a great deal with new rubber and all! Damn, that's what I paid for my 2000 C2. Prices are really dropping. This is a Tip though...but still, should be a killer car, and spring is right around the corner!

Andy, I hear ya..thanks, now all I'm doing is waiting for the list of viable options in the upcoming Porsche auction - patience is a virtue I know, but if I can get them where I want them on this C4S - I'm all over it!

As an owner of a 02C4S it is kind of depressing prices have fallen this low. As others have stated, it seems to be a GREAT deal if the PPI is clean etc. DO you have the list of options on the car??

Lastly, see if you can get the dealer to supply you with the service records for the car given it is a "one owner" car. That would give you some idea as to how the previous owner treated the car.

GO FOR IT!! demosan

That's a great purchase price along with low miles, just get a PPI and go from there.Don't wait...pull the trigger.

+1 - 02C4S for under 40k? Crazy deal. Be careful of Texas cars - several posts warn of "washed" titles and Carfax is a guide, not gospel... Buyer beware - pay for a full PPI!!!!

I greatly appreciate everyone's feedback/advice. I just got off phone with the original owner and think I'm going to make her mine!

Great price for a C4S.

Positive PPI assumed, get the car and don't loose the deal if you really want the car.

Don't try to push the seller to his limit. You already have a great price, the dealer might be desperate but not stupid. He knows what he'd get in an auction and I bet it's not much less.

Yes, one should always make a tight deal.

Closed the deal @ $38,500 - I got a copy of the inspection the dealer had done and talked with the person who did the inspection and the original owner...Monday scheduled to pick up - happens to be my birthday!

Excellent price for you!! Bad for me!! Good thing I've decided that the C4S is a keeper for me.

Congrats, and happy birthday!!

OK. I'll say it. THIS THREAD IS USELESS WITHOUT PICS!!!
