Default A little help needed with shift **** install

Ok, so I got the shift boot off and pulled it up. The only problem is that I don't see a way of getting it off. My new carbon shift **** has the allen bolt to fasten it to the car. The one currently on the car just has a rubber sleeve where the allen bolt would/should be.
It is a 2000 C2.

Any ideas?

Twist and pull up at the same time. Open the sunroof and don't hit yourself in the face.

Loren is NOT kidding about hitting yourself in the face, so be careful!

Here is how I removed the shift ****.

o - I took two screwdrivers and placed one on each side of the shifter shaft. The screwdrivers face in opposite directions so you can hold the handle of one screwdriver and the shaft of the other screwdriver in each hand.

o - Sitting in the driver's seat, place your left forearm on your right knee. With your palm facing up, grab the left side of the two screwdrivers (already on each side of the shifter shaft) with your left hand.

o - Then grab the the right side of the screwdrivers with your right hand (also facing palm up). You can now use your left knee as a fulcrum and pry the **** off. It may go flying straight up, but you won't knock your teeth out.

So, it's okay to use the **** with the allen bolt?

Thanks for the info. They both made me laugh.

Yes, the optional ***** all have allen bolts. Just don't over torque it.
