Default Side skirts - gaps?

Looking ahead to the spring at some possible mods for the Targa. Considering adding the Aerokit II side skirts. When you install them, just wondering if there are any gaps visible on the top length of the skirt - how flush do they sit to the rocker panel, is there a gap, do they look "after market" or tacked on?

Does anyone have any close up pics they can post?

Any other issues with them? Anyone regret installing them?

Thanks in advance for the help

Cheers ... Peter

No gaps. OE side skirts will fit the car perfectly. I do recommend professional installation.

I remember my aero had a tiny gap near the back of each side skirt where the rear fender flare started. It was just wide enough to accumulate a little road debris but the rest was virtually gap free. Mine was factory.

Yes, it will happen as they are only secured with double sided tape. RUF attaches theirs with glue that really works. That is next for me. In getting out of the car I occasionally step or kick the back edge which now has the whole drivers side off the car. If I take a pic I might cry

The BEST solution is in fact that epoxy body glue. Again...seek out a pro for installation.

there are quality aftermarket aerokit pieces that look great. to me, a stock body 911 looks similar to a vw beetle. uninspiring.

get the side skirt to match the generation of your car (i.e. mk1, mk2).

My recent post on my aftermarket MKI aerokit upgrade showed front bumper, side skirts and rear GT flares installed by a reputable bodyshop because I was scare of such gaps or bad alignments to the body. They also used both glue and OEM attachment screws at the bottom of the skirts so mine show no gaps at all, perfectly flushed to the body.

I have an '02, so the mk2's are the ones for my MY.
I'll go OEM and definitely have them installed by a professional, sounds like they should use glue in addition to the screws.
I did check your post Botsy ... car looks great!
Thanks very much for the help guys, much appreciated

Here is a picture of my Aero which was installed two years ago 2001 Carrera. I did get them from Porsche directly at a California dealership for $5100. I would not use aftermarket in my humble opinion

Manny,

The side skirts shoen in post #9 are MK II skirts which were also used on the later GT3 versions. The MK II skirts are more angular or have a sharper crease compared to the MK I skirts, which are more rounded. Steven's (Speed Demon) car has MK I skirts (see pic below).

Mk II skirts match the MkII front bumper cover and are the same as on the GT3.

Steven C. - Where the hell have you been? I'll bet you have been attempting to select the proper color of Blue so yo can repaint those red demons, haven't you?

Hey, you've been gone a while, so I have to make up for lost time!

Wow...now that is funny...and how did you know that anyway? I have been hanging out on the AlfaBB finding parts for my new race car and just recently posted there and asked if anyone in the day raced an Alfa like mine in BLUE??

Are you cyber stalking me Tim
