Here's the entire thread:

that contains other tips and photos. cdodkin did a particularly nice job in his set of instructions in this thread:

good luck! Post in the threads if you have questions and I'm sure any one of us will be able to help.

Nice seats Chad. Nice pedals Wellardmac. Seems as though there is a never- ending list of improvements with this forum, thanks a lot.

Chad, do I get a finder's fee for letting you know they were on sale

J/K, can't wait to see them installed with pics, and I too am intereseted in the weight difference. So please weigh the new seat(s) and weigh your old ones.

Will be doing this mod probably in 2009 as I want to see the new 997 GT3 seats, and I will hopefully see them at the International Auto Show in San Jose on 1/13/08.

yes, take off the rubber covers (on the clutch and gas pedals) and install right over the top.

Thanks. The pedals are an easy mod and look sooo much better than the stock ones - go for it, you will not regret it... well, despite the contortions you'll have to go through to get to the smaller pedals.

You mean clutch and brake not the gaspdal?

I remember when I did try to install this pedal and took the rubber of the brake and clutch it was nothing under it, just the pedal and air room , nothing to bolt on?

Will check it tomorrow again tho.

I've seen and heard that the new 997 GT2 seats fold but still offer the lateral support, and shoulder harness openings. In fact I found a link (http://www.topspeed.com/cars/porsche...1.html#index_1) to some information and here is a picture from that article:

Of course I am not sure how expensive these are but factory Porsche bucket seats with folding backs is a great thing to see finally.

Sorry, you're correct - clutch and brake.

You have to drill through the pedals. The clutch is plastic and easy to drill through. The brake is metal and requires a little more patience.

The only big neg about the GT3 seats (that I have found) is that they ruin your side vision for lane changes.
The other big neg for me would be that there doesn't appear to be any way to access the rear seat area. Am I missing something?

EDIT: I should have read the whole thread...looks like there's no way to fold them.

NOBY - as Wayne said above ^ you will need to remove the rubber cover on the brake and clutch pedals. Align the aluminum pedal where you want it and then use a spring clamp to hold the pedal in place. Then you can either mark the plastic.metal pedal through the aluminum pedal hole or just drill the hole with the aluminum pedal in place.

Use a sharp titainium drill bit, especially for the brake pedal because it is metal. It should take you about 20 seconds or so to drill each hole in the brake pedal. The clutch is plastic and will take about 5 seconds to drill each hole.

For the foot rest pedal and gas pedals, just mount the aluminum pedals on top of the OEM pedals by screwing into the rubber/plastic OEM pedals.

Huge weight loss by switching to GT3 seats. My car came with fully electric sport seats that weighed a ton. Easily a 60lb reduction right there!

They're a one piece shell, so access to the back is very limited. But they are must have for track work, as they hold you in place very well around the turns.

If you think they're expensive, go price the ones for the 7GT3 (hint: 3x the price!).
