I finally drove my C4S with Pirelli snows on today. I found a packed down unplowed parking lot. I went berzerk and found it very difficult to get the yellow traction caution light to activate. My confidence in this car with this set (stock wheels/almost tire size) Is way higher than I had anticipated. My chin was ruffed up a bit so the deep stuff is out of the question but I really do not fear hills or smaller accumulations. I think thatn the fact that my car is painted "Arctic" silver really intimidates the snow as well. My car is the "Chuck Norris" of the Northeast!
Even though I only have a C2, I have always felt like I have more control in snow in the Porsche with good winter tires than in my Jeep. The absolute best car in the snow was an Audi TT quattro with winter tires. I imagine a C4 would be right in there with it.
But once again, I do thank all of you guys who store your cars in the winter for keeping the miles down for me when I buy your car in a few years.

They sure do not "LOOK" like snow tires! I had a few wide on ramps to play with and tried gingerly to get them loose without success. The discussion here about tire materials and how they are effected by temperatures was spot on. These tires feel sticky at 21F degrees
Here I am all dressed up (Blizzak 25) but there is so much salt . . . I know I will go out soon, but it's hard . . . (PS: these were great on cold roads before the muck hit)

Okay - so I bought the 04 996C2 thinking it would a safer weekend stress reliever than the Harley Sportster, and I kept the 02 Aurora Northstar V-8 to be the daily driver. And today I spring for another set of wheels and the Pirelli's from Tirerack.com because I just can't park the 996. Wife thinks I am crazy, the olds is mint and shiny and garaged. The Porsche is in the driveway in the snow. And I love every minute of it. Thanks to everyone for sharing their experience, it made my latest impulse buy much easier.
