Orange Cap needed
Appreciate all the compliments.
I had the side markers replaced a few weeks ago after learning of it and seeing the difference on this site. A cheap change that made a big difference, cleaner look.
As far as mods go I am open to them and any of your suggestions. I will do more as time and $ allows. For now it is stored for most of the winter (downside of Spokane living)
Glad to be part of this great site
Thanks again

ls911 - Great l@@king p-car! Thanks for sharing the pics and the info about the car. Before you do the "orange cap" mod, do another "orange" mod, as Dutchie said, and "harvest those pumpkins," and replace them with clear side markers.
The orange cap mod is not really that great, it only adds noticeable sound at WOT (wide open throttle) but it is easy and cheap.
Here are a few additional ideas on some mods to help you with the addiction!
o B&M Short Shifter.
o Aluminum Gauge Rings.
o Aluminum Pedals.
o Garage Door Opener Switch installed in Horseshoe.
o Paint the Brake Calipers Red.
o Paint "top hats" Silver.
o Increase your remote key fob range with the antenna DYI.
o Stock mufflers to PSE mod.

Great cost effective improvements, I will work on them this winter starting with the garage opener. Your 996 looks great, I'm surprised it's for sale, unless your are upgrading.
Very helpfull tips/mods
Im all over it
Thanks again Tim

Ok gents, you all got me good. I must admit I have been enjoying all the comments and feedback.
I Just bought a 2001 996 about a month ago. It has been very well taken care of (Seattle area). I am the second owner, 12,200 miles, PSM, 6spd, sport seats, white dials/alum. trim. I USED to be a big corvette fan (owned 3 of them) but I always had an interest in the 911. I made the big move on one and it is better than I could have ever imagined. Now I am addicted and can't stop reading, researching, cleaning and driving it.
This took me to the orange cap subject. I probably should just get the fabspeed and call it good. Niagara plastics does not have the cap serial number available using their web search. Seems like the cap and fabspeed do the same thing (?) I am looking for just a bit more sound and thought this might do the trick. It's probably the start of an adiction

Yeah, you may start today's chore of writing posts in here so you can meet your daily quota
Don't do it! Stand your ground! The orange side markers are original equipment...and they look good on a black car! Resist....resist....RESIST!!
Strangely, the habitat of these rodents like raccoons, possums, or some mammals like deers happen to be high up in the hills in the bushy areas like North of Beverly Hills above Sunset, Bel Air, Malibu neighborhoods with home values in the multi-millions. Once in a while, they do chew up what-could-have-been-free your orange cap, but no it doesn't suck living around them.

You're a high roller, you are, it's ok
My bad for bringing back that last thread, it's just such a classic, I undertand you closing it and reaching back for something, anything....lol
This has all been way to easy and predictable, I do feel sligtly guilty.
Will leave it alone now...
Best of luck with your new car JJ
