Default x-74 too stiff?

has anyone gone from an x-74 back to either the stock suspension, or the m030 suspension?
just had the x-74 installed on my 20k mi. 2000 996, and it is definately stiff and starting to consider a m030 as a replacement.
the car DOES handle much better, but the ride quality around town is kinda bumpy, to say the least.
i should add that this is not a track car ( already have an 83 sc that is stiff as they come), but i do drive, let us say, somewhat briskly from time to time.
opinions?

The X-74 is entirely too rough and totally inappropriate for street use. There have been reports of drivers losing fillings and having their internal organs re-arranged when driving over rough city roads. There are even reports that driving a car with the X74 package on the streets can cause cancer.

The only solution is to return your suspension to stock or M030 before you do more damage to your health. With all of the concerns surrounding the X74 parts, they're about as valuable as lead painted pacifiers stamped with the "Made in China" emblem. However, as a sincere expression of my concern for the health of you, my fellow Rennlist brethren, I'd be willing to swap my quasi M030 (the stock 40th anniversary suspension is a derivative of the M030) for your X74 bits.

Personally I love the x-74 in my car. But to each their own. I think your best best is to go for some PSS9 coilovers and set the shocks to soft. I think you will be disappointed with the ride quality of the M030.

Actually, with all due respect to LiveNupe, I have it on good information that the "quasi MO30" suspension of the 40th Anniversary model is equally detrimental to one's health. For this reason, and due to my extreme concern for your safety and well-being, I offer to you a straight up swap for my stock, mushy, 80k-mile suspension. PM me for more info. I apologize to others on the board that might be interested in this deal...I will not respond to other offers until sparks259 has responded with respect to his interest.

I would gladly take you up on your offer, but I noticed that you have a Tip. Unfortunately, my parts won't work on a Tip. There have been reports that Tip cars can experience instantaneous combustion when non-Tip suspension bits are installed. Out of my greater concern for your welfare, I couldn't let you risk your life like that.

Wow... it brings a tear to the eye when one considers the love amongst fellow Rennlist brethren.

I put my snows on over the weekend (hmm... wasn't I supposed to corner balance the car?), which are mounted on 17" rims. Compared to the 18"s, which my street tires are on, the 17"s really toned down the x74 suspension a bit.

I'll be the first to admit that the x74 is a little firm on the street - but hell, I'm young and it's not that bad! In fact, I have the stock suspension sitting around, but I'm going to keep the x74. I just try to go slow when the road gets really bumpy - and then hammering through the turns makes up for it all!

I've got the x74 on my C2. It is very stiff, but I don't mind it.

The improved handling is worth it IMHO.

x-74 suspensions cannot be corner balanced. You must have height adjustable coilovers to do that. You are just fine.

i put X-74 on my 02 C2 coupe few months ago also did hard rubber motor mounts- debated on pss9 vs X-74 - i definitely think i made correct decision- Ride is not too harsh and handles like a different car compared with stock- I drive in ****ty Honolulu roads and we have no track anymore to run on so all my driving is street for now. I love the ride and handling-
I'm running on stock 17" rims still, so this could contribute somewhat . I came from MINI S with camber plates/Koni yellows/H-sport springs etc on 17" rims/40 series tires- now that was harsh and unforgiving. X-74 ride is nice in my opinion and i find it just perfect and i'm an old baby boomer .
Happy Thanksgiving to all.

Hopefully you're still young at heart!

I'm not feeling so young today... My kids have been (especially the 3 year old) quite a handful today - and tomorrow we embark on a trip across the country...

In fact, with a little luck, I'll be in bed by 9.

Go for PSS9 or PSS10...improved handling AND ride quality over stock....keep your X74 sway bars.....
