Just had the winter wheels put on myself - $80 all around, and they used a torque wrench.

Yeah....first time..I assumed it would be approx. 100...(and we all know what happens we when ASSume). when they hit me for 200 w/o tax...I said "that is the most unreasonable thing I've ever heard!!". Still paid way too much at 150. That's why I've been calling ahead....don't want to get into that again. Mavis here will do it for $24.99 per tire...good enough for me.

$200 is about right if they included a nitorgen fill. Otherwise I would agree that it's way too much.

I'll tell you. Drive into a shop with a Porsche, and they smile, make it a Porsche race car, and they grin!!!

A nitrogen fill shouldn't add more than $10 (if it costs ANYTHING at all) to the job, so I'll have to disagree with you.

Years ago a great but somewhat socially clueless friend of ours moved into a new house. We threw him a big housewarming where everyone brought flamingos and those little sunflower windmills. His front yard was full. At some point during the evening he proclaimed that he’d leave a few of the lawn ornaments in front but the rest of them were going in the garage. I'm pretty sure his neighbors weren't too happy that a year later a little flock of pink birds were still there.

I thought I learned that night the importance of making jokes outlandish enough that even the slowest among us wouldn’t inadvertently take them seriously. I guess I came up short again.

I would have told them to put my old tires back on and kindly tell them with all due respect to go eff themselves.

Jim, I got your joke. Maybe I'm just saying that so I won't be included in the "slowest among us" group!
