You definitely know when you hit the rev limiter on the '99s.

Yeah....the 99's will let you know when you hit the limiter....it gives you a definite audible put-put-put -sputter....and the forward motion falls off noticeably....that's called a clue to shift to the next gear. I used to hit it most often in first when going onto the freeway....watching for traffic and not watching the tach....like was said previously....it doesn't hurt the engine and after a while you'll get so you unconsciously know when to shift.
