Default My 99 Vesuvio 996 is on ebay....no reserve

I just removed the reserve price on my purple Porsche. I guess I'm really selling it. I fear it's going to be painful watching it go. I need to sell it to fund my other project cars. I think the blue 996 will make a better track car (PSS9s, 6 spd, LSD), which is what I really wanted. The only problem is....the purple car doesn't have a scratch or rock chip on it, the blue one does. Maybe an aero kit will cover up some of those rock chips I'm feeling better already.

Thanks DFC. It is currently at $19,300 with the reserve lifted. Hopefully, I don't set a record for the cheapest 996 ever sold.

Geez Mark....you're taking a bit of a chance....the market is a bit soft these days and it's a buyer's opportunity for some great deals these days. I sincerely hope you do well with the no reserve....best of luck to you buddy.

I'm waiting to see the next Barrett Jackson auction....with the market the way it is, I'll bet there'll be some hellatius deals to be had there....

Thanks Chuck, it's kind of scary...I can't stand watching your old car languish in my garage. It needs an infusion of cash. Barrett Jackson is always fun, better than the Superbowl.

Mark, that is a big risk, I sell and buy on ebay but I wouldn't do what you have done for such a high ticket item.

I know it is a salvage so that does impact it a bit. But I sure hope it gets more than the current bid and you have less than 48 hours to go now. The high bidder I have seen bid on many cars on ebay before, seems he is always looking out for a steal.

So GL with the sale.

Gotta agree - you can hope for last minute bidding to push up the price, but I'm not sure that I'd like to be in a position to have sell if it didn't hit what I wanted.

I'm guessing that by removing the reserve you must be comfortable in letting the car go if the price doens't go any higher, but I'm not sure I could do what you're doing. Good luck! Someone is going to get a great deal if you don't pull the auction before the end.

I'd hate to see this car go for less than $25K

Thanks for the words of wisdom guys. After a lot of soul searching, I pulled the listing on my Vesuvio 996, about 1 day and 17 hours before making a big mistake. I can't bear to part with it. Wifey drove it to work today...I hope she enjoyed it because we are going to remain a 2 Porsche family.

Good for you, we were starting to worry that the smoke from Chuck's car was still around and that you could not see clearly, but now you can

Mark: I'm very glad to see you pulled the car from eBay. The current market is too damn soft. I was thinking about selling my 930 slant....but after looking at what I see going on, or maybe more accurately....what I see NOT going on....I was truly afraid that you were going to get shafted on the sale price of your car. You saw how it did last time through when you had a reserve on it...and there's no reason to think things would be any different unless you ended up with a couple of guys with zero bid history bidding against each other.

I guess it's because I know you personally, I've driven the car, and I know what went into it; and how you are with your maintenance and upkeep....that I was really afraid that you'd end up giving it away then kick yourself in the *** for letting it go so cheaply. I would highly recommend that you hang onto it for a bit and wait for this buyer's market to pass. That's why I'm so intersted in Barrett Jackson....I really want to see what the economy is going to do to the auction. Of course they're on a higher scale and draw crowds because of the pristine stuff they put up.....but it's still going to be an indicator.

Glad you kept it buddy. Now get to work and rejuvinate my old Iris Blue baby.
