Default Help needed adding an Apple I-Touch to OEM radio

Thanks for your help with the cabriolet top. Pl, TimK and Denish helped alot.

Next Challenge for my 2000 Carrera 4 Cab I would appreciate assistance with is:

1) I would like to tie my "I-Touch" (I-pod) into my OEM radio and speakers.
2) Would also like to remove the 4 audio casette storage bins that are located directly under the radio. Do you have some ideas on how to go about doing either of the above? Thanks alot, I think this forum is a Godsend for a someone who buys his first Porsche (like me).

I am off to Watkins Glen International Raceway to participate in a two day DE Monday and Tuesday. I am like a kid waiting for Christmas morning.

Thanks again,
Andy T

Apterr,

For the cassette holder, you can eject all 4 of the holders, then just grab them and pull gently, and it will slide out. You can order a 2nd cubby shelf to replace it, it will slide right in. There are 2 tabs, 1 on the top and 1 on the bottom. I think you have to be careful that you order one for the upper area, as it looks slightly different than the lower. The lower one curves in slightly on the bottom side.

For the ipod, check out this excellent DIY: http://www.renntech.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=5190

Enjoy the DE days.

Here is a simple set-up
I just did the ipod in my 2000C4. Very simple but depends on your radio head. If you have an aux in for a phone or CD changer, you're half way. You need to contact beckerUS and order the cable for the ipod.($16.00) IT is a cable that has RC on one end and wires to quick connect into your factory radio in the back.

Then you need a cord for your ipod that goes out from your headphone jack and ends with a RC - so it goes from RC male to RC female. I purchased mine for $17.00 (monster). You won't have a functioning CD Changer anymore because you will be using the in for the pod, but thousands of songs vs. 6 discs is a no brainer. This will not charge the pod you will need a hot to tie to yourignition.

Good Luck, takes about 30 minutes to complete. Multiple holders that work for the cradle.

GregoryCarl,
Thanks for the advice. I purchased a unit that charges the I-pod. It plugs into the cigarette lighter. $10 at autozone.
thank you,

Tim,
Thanks for the part number. Which seller(s) will recognize the part by that number? Ie. Rennlist, Porsche Dealer, etc)?
Thank you again.

Porsche dealer. Price was something like $30 to $33 a little over a year ago. Try Sunset Imports (Porsche dealership) in Oregon (503) 641-8600. The sell P-car parts at cost +15%.

Went to "Nineapart" Porsche recycler in Toronto this morning. Picked up a few small items I needed including that upper tray (also picked up a front license plate bracket). The owner, Frank showed me how to look up parts, part numbers and schematics on his website. Feel good that I have this resource in my back yard. It was a nice 90 minute ride one way. Forgot to get one more piece so I will be making the trip again.
thanks for the help.
