well...is it still on the wheel? If so...spray some wd-40 on it and as much around it, and let it sit for a bit. There is also another product that is great, but can't remember what it's called. Anyone?

If you're just worried about the cosmetic effect of seeing the rust
Buy silver touch-up paint from Pep Boys - clean and paint offending lug nut sliver (just the end you can see) - problem goes away
Cheap solution, works perfectly - no one will ever know!

I painted the "top hats" on my car about a year or so ago. I also painted the lug nuts. The paint I used was VHT Brake, Caliper, Drum & Rotor Paint SP - 735 Cast Aluminum, which I got at Autozone for $7.95.
Here are a couple of "before" and "after" pics of the top hats and the lug nuts.
Pic #3 shows a close up of the top hat and lug nuts "before" painting and pics #4 & #5 show the "after" results. The last pic is my lug nut "spray booth."
Hope this helps.

Nope, still not sold. It goes up on AutoTrader tomorrow or Thursday. I REALLY wanted a Rennlister to get it, so I would know that it would be appreciated!
Yeah, I hope "pimped out convertible" isn't gone before I sell the 996. It would really be a shame if I missed out on that one!

Not a great application for titanium, IMHO. Stainless, I'd trust. Ti, for wheel bolts, not so much. Not good for high-torque applications like a bolt (can stress crack or stretch), and prone to galvanic corrosion. Also, the quality of Ti is extremely inconsistent where so much of it comes from Russia and China where, setting aside manufacturing quality, the metal isn't alloyed the same way.
