Default mkII wider than mkI ?

I've heard and read stories about the MkII cars having wider fenders at the rear than the MkI cars. Is this true? I'd love to see a side by side comparson picture. As soon as I have an opportunity I will take one, but frankly, I don't know anyone with a MkI car.

That's another post by the way - where are the 996 cars? I only see one once in a blue moon, and that's here in Vancouver where every other guy is driving a jag, or aston, or 997, or M3, or Z8.

I am not a 100% but I put a MKII rear bumper on my MKI and it lined up easily. But, the bumper is flexible and will conform to the body somewhat. I am assuming you are talking of the body width?

Yes I am talking about body width. I think I'm going to try to get a photograph at the track day this Thursday. Seems to me that a MkII bumper wouldn't fit a MkI car if the fenders were different widths.

MkI vs MkII:
- Different fenders
- Different bumpers
- Same width

To fit a Mk2 rear bumper in a MkI is not as easy as you could imagine
The pieces to set the bumper are not the same and you'll need a mod.

The only MKII that is wider is the C4S and the TT. The C2 is the same width.

OK - I have photographic evidence that the MkI and MkII cars are indeed the same width. The car on the roight is a MkI, the car on the left is mine - a MkII

I knew this, but once in a while I hear someone suggesting otherwise:
