Default Pictures of the dash fire in the 996

Based upon popular demand from you curiosity seekers....and especially for you Tim and your "Post Pics"....I'm attaching some pictures of the calamity so you can see for yourselves what an unforseen event like this can do...and to encourage all of your to keep a fire extinguisher in your cars...not the chemical type as you'll see from the pics what it does to the interior...but a halon. There's one picture in there of a "before" shot to give you an idea of what it used to look like.

I'm hoping these pictures will attach...I'm not very good at this. Here goes nothing....Chuck

Chuck, I know what happened to your car....it caught something from hanging out with mine. I'm sorry, I didn't know that it was contagious.

Mark....you took it in the ***!! At least I was "up front". I enjoyed driving that Ferrari today, but I'm afraid that I'm a dedicated Porsche guy.

Nocolaas: I've been driving 996 TT X50's to test them out, and will probably jump into one of those after insurance settles this which should be pretty soon. I'm also looking at a beautiful white 05 GT3 that's on the books at Carlsen Porsche....decisions....decisions...decisions. I might also be selling my factory slantnose and just keep one car....more decisions. Isn't it curious what one event will do to your plans?

WOW, Chuck, that is horrible! Will it really be worth it to buy it back from the insurance company and part it out? Seems like it would be a lot of work/trouble and it could be a "roll of the dice" in terms of getting your money back.

Maybe Mark could help you re-build it. He mentioned a while back that he was lookng for a new rebuild "project."

Really Its just a case of over active defroster syndrome which commonly occurs to men over the age of 50. There are pills for this that will get you and your car back on the road in no time

Steven, Think my joking comment went over your head. Would that pill = TT X50 or GT3? Let us know what you end up with Chuck. GL with your search.

tt or gt3... thats a good problem to be in. Sorry about the 996, but the future looks good. I hear the gt3 engine is the best porsche engine ever made. But you know you want that turbo power...Tough choice!

That's disturbing. Even if it was worth repairing you could never get that smell out - you'd have to replace the entire interior. Ugh.
