Treadwear V. Actual Mileage on Tires?

If you are not tracking the car, the standard camber settings from the factory will wear your back tires out in about 10,000 -12,000 miles. If you are not tracking, then dial out the camber to about 2/3 rd the factory setting and you will get substantially more mileage.
In most cases, a longer wear tire will cost you traction. I find Bridgestone to be the best for aggressive street driving. If you run the standard 18 inch wheels, the RE 750's are great.

I did mine myself. The camber will not go to zero....... I took it down to the lowest possible amount. There are cam bolts in the suspension that are designed for setting the camber.

I have 17" wheels which are wearing Goodyear F1 GSD3 rubber. When I got the new tires, I had All German Auto set the alignment for me. I don't know what settings they used or whatever, but my tires have about 22k on them, and they STILL have lots of tread left- to my amazement. I don't track the car, but I drive pretty hard, so I can't believe they are still going strong.
My new 18" wheels are on the way and I'm curious how my new set of tires will last. I'm getting the Bridgestone RE960's this time because I drive back to Michigan at least once a year and take various trips where I encounter snow and weather.
I'll bet the 17" tires last longer because maybe there is more sidewall flex, and thus less strain on the actual tread during normal driving (?).

25k on rear with PS2 Michelins the first time around. Had them replaced with PS2 again and put another 27k with about 2k left. Still on first set of PS2 for the front of course. Can't beat that! The original P-zero were 10-12k on rear and noisy after about 8k. I'll never do any other tire. No AX , but a spirited driver!!
