Default MKII mod complete

Hey everyone,

Yesterday, I drove over to Darin's shop (FisterD) to have him do the MKII mod on my '02 Targa and all I can say is "wow!". The difference is night and day and I love it.

A quick little story from yesterday (showing what a class act Darin is):

I brought my wife and 2 young boys along for the ride thinking that I was going to drop them off near his house for some shopping or to play a park. He suggested that I just bring them to his house to play (dogs, trampoline, etc). They had a ball watching him do the work, exploring a local winery just down the street and playing with his dogs. He also took the time to bring my kids into his chicken coop and gather the eggs from the hens on his property.

So, for anyone that would like a better exhaust note and looking for someone to do the work, I would highly recommend Darin. His work is amazing and spending the morning with him talking about Porsches was just as much fun.

Thanks Darin for all the hospitality and the transformation of my 996 making it sound the way it should!

Chris

You are lucky to have someone like Darin.
I'm looking for a good welder with experience in these works in Madrid.

Yeah, we're lucky he's out this way. Had the car out today and was grinning ear to ear.

+1 on Darin doing a great job. I had a great experience with him doing the work...worth the drive if anyone is considering an extended road trip to have this done by him.

Chris,
Beautiful car and tasteful mods! I am in need of a clutch and flywheel and thought to go the same direction as you. Are they any idle, stutter issues with your LWFW and RS clutch? Did the ECU need to be re-flashed or any other mods to make it function smoothly? I have done most of your mods already and that is the one that is coming up so would love to have more info before I dive in.

I think you are confusing my sig for Chris's. Mine is the 993 in the background, with the mod list on my sig.

Thanks,

hey there,
I did not do my swap cans out and am certainly no expert on the subject, but I would imagine you for sure take the wheels off and get the car as high possible as those clamps and connections are really buried.

Depends on how you are supporting the car. In other words, a lift that lifts from the jack points then no. A lift that you drive on too, then no, might have to roll the car back towards the ramps though. Via ramps, it's going to be difficult to remove the wheels. If using floor jack and limited space due to the height of the car off the ground, then taking the wheels off will help.

Hi Steven.....thanks so much...that's good news. I am fortunate enough to have a 4 post lift...but not too easy to lift the wheels once it's up. I should have plenty of room to work under the car.

J
