Broken Accelerator Pedal
Has anyone broken an accelerator pedal??? I've broken two. Specifically, there's a metal rod with ***** on both ends that snaps into a plastic receptacle on the underside of the pedal. The receptacle is broken (2nd time in 6 months). Has this happened to anyone else???? Is this a week part or am I doing something wrong?

I don't think I am, but I must be doing something wrong if this isn't a common problem.

Yes. I was going down a hill a few months ago not even on the throttle and when I got back on, the pedal went absolutely limp to the floor. I just put her in neutral and coasted to the bottom of the hill and called roadside assistance. Fixed under warranty; the cause according to the repair order: "accelerator cable broken". Ruined my whole day...

I broke my throttle pedal at the lower plastic connection while at Watkins Glens. Dan J. gave me epic advice: "go down to the hardware store, get a small 2 1/2" long piano hinge and six sheet metal screws and you should be good to go." The fix lasted 4 more track days and was still going strong when I replaced the unit. You can not replace only the pedal, you have to buy the entire E-Gas assembly $$$. I believe hitting it too hard (and laterally) with my flawed heel+toe method is what broke the bottom mount. I can absolutely imagine breaking another one now that I know all the fittings are only plastic.............
