Default Official Member of the MKII Mod Gang! Video/Audio Clip Included

Finally, I'm an official member of the MKII Mod Gang!
Thanks to All who have helped in one way or another, and who have contributed to the many valuable threads on the mod.

My first impression when I cranked her up...
It gives a more "growl" note now compared to the raspy OEM mufflers.
Not much louder...absolutely unnoticeable at low speeds or cruising,
but the growl kicks in when you gas it some, and more when you floor it.

It's not a big heck of a difference, but yes, it's a nicer sound, deeper and throaty, although I wish it was more throaty and bubbly.
But for the price of the mod, like all the MKII modders have testified....you can't beat the value!

Check it out for yourself here: Video-Audio Clip Link

I've also posted some pics of the modded mufflers, definitely not up to Darin's standard.
But not too bad really, nothing to complain about, besides I won't be seeing them again.

Very nice post with the pics and the sound. Sounds great! I think next summer I may tackle this project.

WHy wait until next summer? Do it now so you have the "better" (subjective) sound for your top down Autumn drives.

Ken - I knew you would like this mod!

If you haven't already done so, have your wife or someone you trust (of not the wife ) drive the car away from and toward you while you listen. You will find that they are louder than you can hear from the inside of the car.

Congrats about the mod , but there are two questions:

- I think it sounds very good , but though in the video we can't appreciatethe real sound, It seems to be not as louder as XLF OEM option . I agree with Benjamin

- second things is referred to the installation. Why didn't you get electrical valves installed?

I know It's a bit more complex but you could keep your original sound while you were cruising an urban street or similar place to preserve the noise and not disturbing in night hours, just clicking a button

Answer: Cost Effective...Value for the $
And you can still cruise quiet just as with OEM. It's not loud at all.

Thanks Cosmos.
A friend of mine did a similar bypass in his Boxster S 986 and wanted to install electric valves. The price was 200 $ both.
If it's not so loud, then you don't need a cutout.

Nevertheless, good job

Welcome to the club.

Within the MKII mod thread I have posted video clips also, but I did mine outside of the garage, I really think that the garage added to the sound of yours, but it still sounds much better post-mod.

Yep we all know that this mod is not going to give you the same results as a true PSE, but the cost of this mod is worth the effort IMHO.

Speed, actually the tail of the car was just at the door of the garage.
But yeah, that could have made a difference in the recording.
I did however place my laptop right next to the side of the rear, as you can see.

That is why I know it's hard to judge sound solely from a recording,
it's more appropriate for comparing the difference in before & after mod, for those who want to do the mod, but are unsure.

To be consistent, I had the car and laptop placed in the exact same positions for both recordings.

OEM PSE is too expensive.
Well done. For a few ducks you have a nice sport sound

Tim - I have spent tool little time driving recently (and too much other $$$). My car has been in the shop for 5 weeks now, ever since my garage door broke/detached and fell on top of my car. I had to replace a lot, and with the car gone, used the rest of this years mod budget to redo the garage floor

I get the car back on Tuesday - and all I want to do is DRIVE
