I went the hybrid - mk1 sides (on when I bought it) and I put and aftermarket mk2 front end (had to go aftermarket for pre facelift) . I much prefer the harder lines of the mk2.

I like tacos!

There are two MK1 GT3 club sports racing with PCA. One is the forrest green color (I don't know the real name). It is stunning. I think both will be at the club race at Road America in a couple of weeks if anyone was thinking about attending.

I'm biased, too. Don't forget that when the Mk1 came out there was no GT3 RS. After 2003 the RS stole some features to the MK2 to justify the price. Mk1 have single mass flywheel and a six-speed manual gearbox developed from the racing GT2. And the ClubSport version was hand mounted at the Motorsport Divison in Weissach instead of Zuffenhausen.

way to answer the question

as for me, of course I am biased as well. But if somebody came into my garage in the middle of the night and replaced mine with a MkI I would never complain

He's better off this way. I sat in the passenger seat of a friend's MK2 GT3 last time on the track (didn't drive it myself) and now I can't forget the sound of the engine anymore. My C2 rev limiter kicks in where the 3 starts to sound soooo sweet.

Hmm - Not sure of the difference since there's not a lot (none) Mark I GT3's around here. Not many Aeoro cars either really.

Giventhat I *might* be moving to Europe for a while and given that If I do I fully intend to take my Porsche with me and trade it in on a GT3 over there....here's my comments and questions:

1) Does the Mark I have a taco, while Mark II has the ducktail with second plane wing? I prefer the latter style.

2) I kind of prefer the Mark I headlights - but not hugely so.

3) Are the skirts different?

4) I think I prefer the Mark II bumpers.

5) What's the difference (if any) between the engines?

6) If I can infer from the post above that the Mark I has a LWF and the Mark II has a dual mass setup - I'll take the Mark I.

Well, it looks like I prefer the Mark II overall, but given the inevitable price difference, I would probably settle for the best car for what I could afford. You di dsay based on looks, so on that I'll vote Mark II.

Also, I probably won't be allowed to bring a Mark I back with me to Canada if and when my international assignment ends. If I really ove the car it woudl be a shame to have to leave it behind.

Can someone post some basic pictures to differentiate the two models better?

1. yes, mk1 taco, mk2 ironing board

2. I prefer Mk1 headlights as well

3. yes, mk1 has more rounded curves, mk2 has straight sharp lines

4. not me

5. both 3.6 but mk2 has 20 more hp and accelerates faster at diff shifts

6. Mk1 is a rawer drive, especially the club sport version... from what I read

Look at the videos on post #1 for its looks
