Default help to identify CAI

Hey everyone,
I want to start doing a little DIY on my car and thought changing the air filter would be an easy start.
I have had the car about 2 months now and it came with a few mods including this CAI.
I have researched every web site that I could find to match the CAI on my car without luck.
Any guesses?Name: IMG_1699.JPG

Welcome to Rennlist. Good to see that you joined as a Member!

BTW - it looks like you could use a little engine bay detailing. This link may help.

Thanks for the "ID", I'll contact them to get my new air filter. (I haven't had any error codes but I do feel that low end torque is compromised by this and the headers etc...It pulls strong from 4000 rpm and up but so so under 3000rpm)

Tim! what a nice job on engine bay! ...OK....this weekend's project!

You are correct, and the main culprit would be the headers. Generally speaking, 'breathing' mods, if they do anything at all, tend to give you more at the top at the price of low rpm performance.

Not a problem. At some point I'll probably substitute the filters in this link for the K&N in order to kiss the MAF demon goodbye once and for all.

Thank you! Don't forget to detail the underside of the engine lid.

Bruce: When you say the torque is compromised by the CAI and the headers....what headers are you and pszilka referring to....the stock or aftermarket? I must have missed something.

Aftermarket. My comment was relative. If you see headers that promise more horsepower than stock, you can be sure that it will come at the expense of low end grunt. No free lunch there. It's just physics.

CAI is a bit more complicated, because the stock unit wasn't designed only to achieve a certain set of performance characteristics. It was also designed to meet noise control requirements. By the same token, gains of any kind are questionable for CAIs on any car that was halfway well engineered in the first place. You'll rarely find a manufacturer who will give you a HP number for their CAI alone... very often, the numbers are for CAI plus chip and/or exhaust.

For the record, I have the EVO CAI and EVO exhaust. Love them both, but I know what I got for my money.
